On September 19, Myanmar Airways International’s first ever flight to Vietnam arrived in Hanoi from Yangon. The Yangon – Hanoi route has a frequency of two return flights per week on Mondays and Fridays. The flight time is about two hours, using Airbus A320.
Since the pandemic, there are currently no airlines flying directly between Hanoi and Yangon, passengers often have to connect via Bangkok (Thailand).
The Yangon – Ho Chi Minh City route is also operated by Mai with a frequency of one round-trip flight per week on Thursday, starting from September 22.
Established in 1993, Myanmar Airways International is an international airline operating in Myanmar. This is one of three international airlines that recently opened regular flights to Hanoi after two years of the impact of Covid-19. Previously, Cambodia Angkor Air and Thai Smile Airways had flown to Hanoi.
The volume of international air transport at Noi Bai airport is only about 50% compared to the time before Covid-19. The growth in recent months shows a recovering trend in the near future.
