Acquiring a Vietnam visa has become more accessible starting from August 15, 2023. In addition to traditional stamped visas, travellers can now conveniently apply for an electronic E-visa for Vietnam through our user-friendly online platform. This comprehensive guide covers all aspects of obtaining a Vietnam e-visa, including eligibility, application steps, validity, and more.
Understanding the Vietnam E-visa
Despite its launch in 2017, the Vietnam e-visa remains unfamiliar to many. Alongside other visa options such as obtaining one at the Embassy or Consulate, as well as visas on arrival, the Vietnam e-visa offers a legitimate pathway for foreign visitors to obtain a Vietnam visa.
What sets the Vietnam e-visa apart is its focus on those entering Vietnam for tourism or leisure purposes. It’s designed for a single entry within a 1-month timeframe.
Initially available to citizens of 40 countries upon launch, and as of July 2020, Vietnam’s e-Visa is accessible to nationals of 80 countries.
Officially reinstated on March 15, 2022, following a 2-year suspension due to COVID-19, Vietnam’s electronic visa (or e-visa) offers a hassle-free way to visit. As of August 15, 2023, Vietnam grants electronic visas, or e-visas, to individuals from all nations and regions, enabling them to apply for electronic visas—no matter the purpose, be it tourism, visiting family, business, commerce, and more – permitting a stay of up to 90 days.
Where to Get Your Vietnam E-visa
Foreign travellers have two options: applying directly through the Vietnam Immigration Department’s official website or enlisting the help of a service provider or Vietnam visa agency.
For independent applicants, visit the Vietnam Immigration Department official link and follow the user-friendly instructions.
Where Can You Use Your Vietnam E-visa?
Flexibility is a key advantage of the Vietnam e-visa. It’s valid at 32 international checkpoints, encompassing airports, seaports, and land ports.
Here’s the complete list of eligible checkpoints
Fee and Processing Time for Your Vietnam E-visa
Obtaining a Vietnam e-visa is cost-effective and efficient. The processing fee is $25 (USD) for single entry and $50 for multiple entries when applying directly through the Department. Keep in mind that this fee is non-refundable, whether your e-visa is approved or not.
Remember, once the entry border checkpoint is indicated on the visa, it cannot be changed. Should you wish to use a different entry checkpoint, applying for a new visa is necessary.
Group applications aren’t possible for e-visas; each application is designed for a single candidate.
While processing typically takes around 3 working days, it’s advisable to submit your application 1 to 2 weeks ahead of your departure date. This is especially important during public holidays or peak application periods to ensure a smooth travel experience.
Discover Vietnam Seamlessly with the E-visa Advantage
With the Vietnam e-visa, exploring this captivating country has never been easier. From its convenient application process to its flexible entry points, the e-visa opens the door to a seamless and memorable journey. Get ready to embark on your Vietnamese adventure with confidence and convenience!
How to apply for a Vietnam E-visa
Obtaining a Vietnam E-visa online is a highly convenient and efficient approach for applicants to secure an entry permit for Vietnam. While it is possible to obtain a visa on arrival – with added effort from the applicant and potential additional costs – an E-visa offers a more favourable solution for travellers valuing their time and seeking to avoid unforeseen expenses. By opting for an E-visa, you can avoid stressful situations at the airport and prevent delays during check-in!
Before applying for a Vietnam e-visa, please ensure that you are well-prepared with the following:
- Your original passport, which should be valid for at least 6 months following your arrival date.
- Your original passport should have a minimum of 2 blank pages for the Vietnam visa sticker and immigration stamps.
- A scan of the passport information page (soft file).
- A scan of a passport-style photo (both hard and soft files).
- Payment cards that can be used online (credit or debit cards, etc.).
Once you have all the required documents ready, follow these steps to submit your Vietnam e-visa application:
Step1: Filling out the Vietnam e-visa application form
- Go to https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/ and select “E-visa issuance” to access the main portal for applying for a Vietnam e-visa. Then choose “For foreigners to get ready.”
- Carefully read the instructions to understand the application process. Click the “Next” button to proceed.
- Complete the e-visa application form with your personal information. Upload your portrait photograph and the passport data information page as instructed in the Vietnam Evisa application form guide.
Step 2: Receive the verification code and proceed with the payment
Make sure to save the Verification Code, as you will need it to check your Vietnam e-visa status and to download your Vietnam e-visa letter. Note that the system won’t send an email with this code; you need to obtain it yourself.
Next, proceed to make the processing fee payment. The fee is USD 25 and is non-refundable, regardless of whether your e-visa application is approved or not.
Step 3: Check the result of your Vietnam e-visa application
After 3 working days, visit the link to check if your e-visa application has been approved. If it is approved, download, and print the e-visa letter to present at immigration customs.
While the process of submitting a Vietnam e-visa application form might seem simple, it’s important to note that it’s not as easy as it may appear. Ensure that you provide accurate information, as changes cannot be made once the application is submitted and processed. Making changes at that point will require applying for a new visa letter, incurring additional fees. This is why using a service to obtain a Vietnam e-visa is recommended.
